Emer Barry has an honours degree in Music and Italian and holds a Masters in Music Performance from the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.
She is one of Irelands most popular performers such is the versatility of her voice and her rapport with her audience. Equally comfortable in the realms of opera, celtic and crossover music, she has worked with English National Opera in London, has supported Paddy Casey in concert and this year she is delighted to announce that she is the new voice of Disneyland Paris' forthcoming ad campaign!. She is a regular soloist at the National Concert Hall and is a regular guest performer with leading Irish composer and singer Liam Lawton.
Emer has been the recipient of many bursaries and prizes including the John Mc Cormack and Oliver O'Brien bursaries for singing from the John Mc Cormack society of Ireland, the Stevenson Award for Overall Vocal Winner at the Ballymena Music Festival the RTE Lyric fm bursary for most promising singer at the Sligo Feis Ceoil, and she was the only classical voice finalist in the RTE RAAP Breakthrough Awards in 2012.
Operatic roles include Fulvia in Rossini's La Pietra del Paragone, Nedda in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci with Wonderland Productions Ltd and Susanna in La Nozze di Figaro, Mozart. She also played the female role of Serpina in Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona which toured the north of Italy in July 2009 under the direction of Opera Theatre Company's Annalise Miskimmon.
Currently she is studying with tenor Julian Hubbard and repetiteur Aoife O'Sullivan. She divides her time between performances, working in the recording studio and singing at weddings.
